As the unseasonable warm weather for this time of year continues, bringing winds gusting in excess of 50mph, the combination of dry conditions and high winds has resulted in fires that have consumed over 50,000 acres in eastern Oklahoma.
These fires have destroyed several homes, barns and other structures as they have moved across various counties across the state displacing business, families and livestock. As we move into the month of March, the fire danger remains high as optimal conditions for fires continue.
